Chain Binders (also known as Load Binders)
A chain binder is a device used to add tension to chain that is being used to secure a load. The binder pulls the slack out of the chain, that the user is not normally able to do by hand. The two most common styles of binders are ratchet lever.
Ratchet binders get their name from the ratcheting mechanism they use to tighten the chain. Much like a typical ratchet strap, the ratchet binders simply ratchet down and lock into place.
Lever binders use a simple lever mechanism to remove tension. The operator attaches the binder to the chain and pulls the lever down. Although the design may seem simpler, it requires more strength from the user to secure the lever binder.
